and he is represented by East West Gallery, London. His paintings,
prints and drawings are in a number of important public collections
and his biography and CV, together with essays and thirty images,
on his extensive website: www.robb-painter.co.uk.
Alan Robb is an idea-based figurative painter who works mainly
in oils. A significant body of work has been produced on-site in
Italy, Spain, Greece, Portugal and Brazil. These works, in watercolour
and gouache, have had a considerable influence on his practice and
his teaching.
Alan Robb has developed a method of establishing a painting on-site
and taking it to a full resolution in his studio. Alan first visited
this area of Umbria in 1970 to view the works of Piero della Francesca,
and this experience has had an enduring influence on his art.
Alan Robb continues to work closely with his students, teaching
the fundamentals of drawing and painting and the importance of working
directly from life and on location.
