COOKING LESSONS IN LA GHIRLANDA

Cooking lessons take place on three mornings during the week in the professional cooking school situated in the hotel owned and run by CountessA Amalija.   Amalija and her assistant, Gabriele, start the lessons at approximately 9.30 am.  There will be a break for coffee and guests will consume what they have prepared for lunch.  Not only will Amalija give you those all important small tips for improving your cooking, she will also give you pointers on how to create a beautiful looking plate.  Amalija is not only a very talented cook, she is also a LOT of fun.

One day during the week the "painters" are invited for lunch to eat what the cooking guests have created.  This usually turns into a very sociable fun afternoon.

You will learn to cook typical Italian dishes using all fresh produce collected from the vegetable garden that morning.  You will be asked at the start of the week what you would like to learn to cook.  For instance you might never have been successful at making a Tiramasu - Amalija will show you how to perfect it.  You will prepare pasta sauces, unusual ways of preparing vegetables, amazing fish and seafood dishes, meat dishes and of course delicious deserts.

"Thanks for a wonderful week in Saragano.  The hotel is a gem and the cooking course was A1. The use of various herbs and spices was explored extensively and sometimes in minute detail as, for example, the effect of one very small chilli in a sauce.  I would recommend the Cooking School at La Ghirlanda to anyone with either limited or advanced cooking knowledge, as all will come  away with a feeling of satisfaction.  It certainly exceeded

my expectations".  Richard M. - La Ghirlanda, Saragano

"Dear Sheila, Thank you so much for such a wonderful holiday.  Everything was so well organised and the group got on brilliantly together.  I absolutely loved the cooking lessons.  I've been on several cooking holidays before - this was one of the best.  I learnt so many new things from Amajlia.  We also had a lot of fun.  I look forward to coming back next year".  Mary P. - La Ghirlanda, Saragano
