Near Citta di Castello, Umbria, Villa San Donnino is in the north of Umbria, and is set in beautiful countryside near the walled medieval town of Citta di Castello. It is within an hour's drive of Arezzo, Perugia and Assisi, and close to Sansepolcro and Monterchi. Umbria itself still echoes the Middle Ages, and boasts a landscape of mediaeval hilltop villages, castles and monasteries. Unlike its neighbours Tuscany and Lazio, and despite its scenic beauty and cultural and artistic treasures, Umbria is a region largely untouched by large-scale tourism.

San Donnino was a retreat for the cardinals in Rome escaping the heat during the summer period. The hotel still has its own chapel, in a beautiful woodland park setting. It is a perfect base for exploring Umbria and Tuscany, and seeing the wonderful examples of Renaissance art in the area. It has a large swimming pool, a tennis court and other facilities.

All rooms have en-suite facilities. The hotel restaurant has an excellent chef and is well known for its superb cuisine locally.
