The Tuscan landscape includes graceful hilltop castles and medieval villages surrounded by vineyards.  Under the Medici family, Tusany was the economic capital of Europe.  Although the political landscape has changed, the countryside looks much the same, a patchwork of fields, forests, olive groves and vineyards.  These painting opportunities are right on the doorstep of Villa Lucchese.

Guests will be transported from Pisa airport to Hotel Villa Lucchese which is less than one hour away.  Hotel Villa Lucchese is situated within a pleasant 20 minute walk of  the large town of Poggibonsi.  Within 5 minutes of the hotel is The Medici Fort called "Poggio Imperiale" built at the start of the 1500s by Lorenzo the Magnificent.  The fort was intended to be a large city with a fortress inside.  The city was never completed but the fort and outside wall construction remains today.  It is an important archaeological site and digs are continuously in progress as there is evidence of an ancient human settlement there.

Painting tuition will take place each morning in and around the hotel with Fiona.  There will be an excursion with professional guide to the beautiful charming medieval town of San Gimignano known as "The City of Towers".  There will also be a visit to Siena, the artistic rival of Florence.  The guide will take guests to the main attractions of the town including The Campo, Palazzo Pubblico and the Cathedral.  Guests will have tickets for the Cathedral to avoid the queues.  There will be a visit to family run Tenuti Casanova.  After a presentation in the cellars where the Super Tuscans and Dincanto are produced and aged for 5 years there will be a wine pairing lunch.  Guests will also visit the Casanova Acetaia where they produce aged Balsamic vinegars.

A light lunch will be served in the hotel each day apart from the last day of the week.  This leaves guests to explore the town of Poggibonsi or visit another nearby town.  Dinners will be served in the hotel each evening with one dinner in a restaurant in the town of Poggibonsi.
