We have been asked to find a location based in a town for those that want to be able to walk into a town after a morning painting.  Gubbio is an unspoiled medieval town situated on the lower slopes of Monte Ingino with many buildings of historial interest, a wonderful museum and a Roman Amphitheatre.  Relais Ducale is called this because it was once the home of Duke Frederico di Montefeltro and is situated in the heart of Gubbio in Piazza Signoria considered to be one of the most beautiful suspended squares in Italy.  The hotel overlooks Piazza Signoria, the valley and the  Palazzo dei Consoli the 14th century Town Hall.   The streets, the palaces, the churches, and the entire urban body are perfectly preserved.

The hotel is very comfortable with several areas to sit comfortably to read or socialise.  The garden terrace on the third floor of the hotel is a very beautiful tranquil place to sit and paint.  The guests will do most of their painting in this terrace garden overlooking the Palazzo and valley below.  Lunch will be taken here each day.   We have taken the deluxe double rooms in this hotel which are very tastefully decorated with high standard bathrooms.
