REUNION - OXFORD 19TH NOVEMBER 2016

We are very proud of the fact that we have such a loyal customer base.  55 of these customers came together for a wonderful "Reunion" weekend in Oxford in November 2016.

After our initial get together over tea and refreshments, Alice Foster, Art Historian, gave us a wonderful lecture on Caravaggio.  It was so interesting looking at his work and having Alice point out what we should be looking for when viewing a work by Caravaggio and learning how the slightest detail in a painting had quite a significant meaning.  Learning about his life was also very entertaining as he certainly lived life to the full and on the edge.

We were able to walk from the Four Pillars Hotel into the centre of Oxford on Saturday morning.  At the Ashmolean Museum were were split into small groups and taken with knowledgeable guides to have a private viewing of the hi-lights of the Ashmolean Museum.  What a wonderful museum it is with its Egyptian archifacts as well as items of interest from all around the world and some magnificent paintings.

On Saturday afternoon we were treated to a painting demonstration by Christopher Forsey, one of our painting tutors.  Christopher completed a beautiful painting in 90 minutes.  It was fantastic to see his picture grow, watch  his special technique and listen to his commentary.

Before we knew it - it was Sunday morning - home time.  As the organiser of these holidays it was so wonderful to see everyone who I really have grown to know very well over the years.  A few guests have been coming on one of our holidays from the beginning in 2004.  Many guests knew each other from previous holidays and so it was great for them to catch up with each other.  I was very grateful to our tutors who came to join us for the weekend and also retired tutors such as Alan Robb and John Booth both of whom I know people were thrilled to see again.  John gave a lovely speach at the end of the dinner on Saturday night - thank you John.
